i know i should be writting my essay
but i am immobilized in this ethical delima over art production
i cannot produce
my work just looks like waste
and my beautiful black and white,
my tradition that is being forgotton to computer cameras
alas!
it seems like all the effects i should be exploring in traditional photography can be created in the computer
and if i did it any other way, i would be making unnessesary waste
like attaining the high contrast and lucid quality of lith-prints
or the developmental process of rollout photography
justin kerr spent hours in his studio to come up with a way of producing a 360 archival image from a single negative of contoured objects
and digital just imitates it with photostich
the whole process is lost!
i feel so horrible just spitting out content onto RC prints all the time
that process shows no reflection of methodical thought
call it dramatic but i slept the entire day yesterday because i felt so bad about it
i can't work like this
i need serious help
either i need to give up photography completely or find a way to restore its process in a non-toxic way

I'm making a short film starring a Jonathan Gates and I shot a bunch of scenes on black and white Super 8mm film. It has a look that you couldn't replicate on video... and if you tried, it would look really stupid. It's really really grainy with pretty high contrast, and it looks like archival footage shot in the 1930s;.

Sorry, I know this doesn't help you at all. I just wanted to tell you.
